Our time at the Goodwood Revival weekend
Every year at Mad Hatters, we send a member of staff to the Goodwood Revival to ensure we are able to experience the event first hand. This means we are prepared to give advice on appropriate period fashion, places to visit, appropriate footwear and things not to be missed at this extraordinary event.
Last year, it was my families turn to experience the event. So we wrapped our sandwiches in brown paper and string, dug out the wicker picnic hamper, donned our favourite Goodwood Revival clothing and piled into our car. All in all there were seven of us attending, my sister and her daughter, my husband and I, and our three children. The weather was great, but I was pleased to be wearing a vintage bolero with my outfit, as when the sun went behind the clouds it got a little nippy. The teenagers wore some beautiful vintage printed 1940’s dresses with cardigans and the boys had on their tank tops. My husband was not keen on the usual RAF uniforms that he usually wears to this event so instead wore a flight suit and bomber jacket which meant he really looked the part, as well as being comfortable.
Having a comfortable pair of shoes is an essential at this event, as there is a LOT to see and do. There are good solid walk ways everywhere you go so ladies, if you are comfortable in heels, then a pair of peep-toe shoes would be perfect to go with your Goodwood Revival costumes.
With less than a month to go until this years event the orders for Army and RAF uniforms are flooding in daily here at Mad Hatters. However, we have a great range of military, vintage and period outfits, a selection of which are on our website. So give us a call to arrange an appointment and see how we can help you.
